Small Guest Bathroom Renovation
My husband really wanted to remodel our guest bathroom, and I completely agreed with him. Our house was built in 1984 and it’s definitely showing its age. Since we didn’t want to do any plumbing or electrical work, the bathroom was a great place to start. It’s small and would be a good proof of concept for future projects. Lets walk through our small guest bathroom renovation.
The first thing he did was remove the baseboard, the cabinet, and everything hanging on the walls like the towel rack, mirror etc. Then we textured the walls where it was all messed up behind where the mirror and the cabinet were. After sweeping and getting the floor really clean, we put down peel & stick tiles. They came out looking great! We had to cut some of them to fit into place, like next to the toilet or tub. But it’s super easy to do with some scissors or a sharp knife. Just be careful!
Once that was done it was time to install headboard with ¾” MDF skirt and trim. This took a while since our walls are not flat, nor is the floor, and none of the corners are at 90°. Also the beadboard needed to flow above the counter, and it was cramped behind the toilet. blegh.
But that was the majority of the work, and all that was left was to paint everything and caulk. Then hang a new mirror, new towel racks, and install a new light fixture. (I said no electrical work, but it was just one light, I wasn’t going crazy like running anything through the walls)

All in all it was a very straightforward renovation that almost anyone can do and it’s definitely better of what we had before, less outdated and more my style. So we are pretty happy with it, hopefully until we have budget in the future to do a full renovation, and not just a DIY project. I hope you enjoyed our small guest bathroom renovation and were able to gleam something from it!
