14 Perfect Date Ideas For Any Time Of The Year

Sometimes it is really hard to find things to do, especially in winter when it’s so cold outside and it gets dark so early. These easy and fun activities turn regular days into wonderful memories, making this season truly merry and bright or just fun. Having drinks and watching a movie is always a safe bet but I like to switch things up from time to time and go out to do something different or see a new place. Even though I live in Dallas, you can plan these date ideas anywhere!

dallas stars hockey

My husband and I went to our first hockey game last year. We had always wanted to go, and we let our hopes get high. It did not disappoint! It was a lot of fun, more exciting than we thought it would be, and the atmosphere was electric! I still don’t know the rules to hockey, but I don’t care, it was super fun anyways. So much fun that it was over before we knew it.

Picnic-symphony

I found online that the Dallas Symphony Orchestra was doing a concert in the park, playing the Harry Potter music. I’m a huge fan of Harry Potter, so I knew it was going to be a good time. The weather was perfect, the atmosphere amazing, and the toilets clean. We brought a bunch of food and drinks (yes alcohol is allowed). The sound coming from that stage was perfect. It was such a great experience and we’re definitely going again sometime.

Texas Motor Speedway

My husband and I experienced our first visit to the Texas Motor Speedway this past summer. It was a bucket-list item and it was one of our most anticipated date ideas, we had been meaning to go since we moved. Maybe we went to the wrong race, but it was hot (texas summer hot), the parking lot was huge and had no signs for where we had to enter, leading us to walking for quite a while. Then the race was super long! We just hang out for a couple hours before leaving because of the weather, but now I now that the Texas summer was not ideal for this plan! Next time I’ll definitely get tickets for a different time of the year.

weekend events like renaissance fair

We went to a renaissance fair in Virginia a few years ago and we’ve always wanted to go back. Finally this past summer we looked up the dates and went to the Scarborough Renaissance Festival. The big castle gate at the beginning transports you into medieval times, where knights, witches, and assassins are walking around. The day was filled with lively character, jousting tournaments, and was filled with laughter and surprises. The next weekend we went to see monster trucks but it was a more family oriented event. It was fun but make sure to bring earplugs.

date night concert with SEAT GEEK or ticketmaster

Concerts are a blast! It’s one of our favorite things to do and one of the best date ideas if you are looking for something to do. Whether it’s a small gig or a big show, the energy is incredible. We’ve seen Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, and Blue October 3 times. Every single time it’s so awesome. It’s a great time, and if you visit Seat Geek, Ticketmaster or Game Time you can find really good seats and prices. I mean even on spotify you can find where your favorite artists will be and get notifications when they are around you.

go to broadway to see a show like wicked or beetlejuice

Seeing musicals, like Wicked, is one of the best dates we’ve had so far. The costumes, music, and the whole show are just awesome. We went to one in Dallas (Wicked), and it felt like being in a different place altogether. The characters, the sets, and the songs were all super cool. It’s not just a show; it’s like going on an exciting adventure from start to finish.

a sun day with resort pass

What’s better that a reset day? If you’re looking for one around Dallas, check out the Four Seasons Resort and Club Dallas at Las Colinas. There’s a load of luxury accompanied by genuine hospitality. There’s golfing, spa indulgence, and a culinary journey. It has a lush landscape, multiple pools, and all the rooms radiate elegance. You don’t have to have a pool in your backyard to have some summer fun.

day road trip to waco oR a nearby town

We wanted to take a day trip to Waco, I REALLY wanted to visit Waco’s Magnolia Market. It’s a highlight of Texas—shopping, good food, and small-town vibes. But don’t forget the ride itself is part of the fun, with music and laughs in the car. Find some places to visit along the way to make the trip longer and to experience more. The next place to visit on my list is Fredericksburg.

a spa day with groupon

Take a break without spending too much with a Groupon spa day. Lots of affordable packages for massages and pampering that won’t hurt your wallet. Imagine a peaceful place where skilled therapists help you relax. You can enjoy these moments without worrying about the cost. Treat yourself to a day of well-deserved care without breaking the bank! I used these all the time.

shows or exhibitions in museums

Dallas museums are a cool way to dive into art and history. Check out the Dallas Museum of Art for awesome exhibits that show off different kinds of art. If you’re into history, the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza is a must-visit, giving you a peek into an important moment in American history. The Perot Museum of Nature and Science is perfect for curious minds. Whether you’re into sculptures at the Nasher Sculpture Center or exploring human rights at the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum, Dallas museums have something for everyone! There’s so many of them.

seasonal events that are hosted at hotels sometimes

I went to one of these events a couple years ago, it was snoopy themed “A CHARLIE BROWN Christmas”, and there was a lot of ice sculptures. This year that same hotel is having a grinch themed Dr. Seuss’ “How the Grinch Stole Christmas!“. I went with my husband and his family, and we got to see all of the Wonderful ice sculptures. It was so beautiful and impressive. But the walk through the ice sculptures was only part of it. In the main room there were slides, food, games, and small stores for souvenirs. The pricing was reasonable and we had hours of fun.

Ballet in dallas draculA

We had the incredible opportunity to catch a live performance by the Dallas Ballet, and let me tell you, it was amazing! The dancers moved with such grace and precision, making every step seem like a work of art. The music they chose for “Dracula” was cool and added this hauntingly beautiful atmosphere to the whole show. It was like watching a live, elegant storytelling session. And the costumes  were so intricate and added a whole new layer of magic to the performance. The entire evening was nothing short of unforgettable, filled with the kind of enchantment that only the ballet can bring.

Winery or distillery beer tour

We went on a tour of a distillery recently, and it was super cool! We got to see how they make spirits, and it was really interesting. The guide showed us around, explaining how they age the drinks in barrels, and you could tell they love what they do. The best part was tasting the drinks – each one had its own special flavor, and it was fun trying them all. We were feeling great by the end! The tour was a tasty adventure and made us appreciate the hard work behind our favorite drinks even more!

Make s’mores around a campfire-Barbeque in the backyard

One evening, we decided to make s’mores by the campfire, and it turned into a really cool time. We sat around the fire, roasting marshmallows until they were nice and gooey. Then, we put them between graham crackers with some chocolate. The mix of warm marshmallow and melty chocolate was seriously tasty. As we enjoyed our s’mores, we chatted, laughed, and just had a good time by the fire. It was a simple but awesome night, turning marshmallows into sweet memories under the open sky.
