The Projects In My 2024 List

This past year was a great learning experience, and even though we didn’t have a big list of projects, each one was special and made our house better and more beautiful. You can see all the 2023 projects here. As we enter the new year, I’m excited to provide you with a sneak peek into the cool stuff we have lined up for the months ahead. Think of it as a backstage pass to our upcoming projects. It’s not just about the outcomes; I want to take you behind the scenes to see the potential of this house and the high and lows of each project. So stay tuned and buckle up, because I can’t wait to share all the ideas with you.

Bunk beds and wood floor

Dining room

This is one of the projects that we plan to do first since we already have materials to build what we want. In one of the walls we’re going to replace the window nook to make it more usable, and we’re also going to give the room a fresh coat of paint. We’re going to change the switch plates and make it look more uniform and finished, because after fixing the foundation you can see some minor cracks and imperfections.

Primary bath

Lately we have been having some issues with a leak and the grout cracking. What we would like to do is retile the shower and the floor (which is original to the house) and give it a fresh coat of paint, install some new fixtures and a new mirror. So far the bathroom has been functional minus the issues I just mentioned, but we want to make it modern and long lasting for all the years to come. Meaning full renovation!

Finish the entryway

This project is fairly small and we are just looking for a long weekend to tackle this. I want to paint it white and add some extra molding to the existing wall so it looks more finished. We will finish the trim and paint, and sand the accent wall so it looks more subtle and less distracting.

Clear out the front backyard

The front of our house has a little road and a lot of overgrown weeds and trees. We prioritized the backyard last year so our dogs could run free without any danger, but now that the backyard is functional, it’s time to focus on the front. There is a lot of overgrowth so it would mostly be putting a lot of hours into clearing it out, to get it ready for spring.

Backyard phase 2

Since the backyard is so big we had no other options than to do the remodeling in phases (of course the budget influenced this too). You can see how we made our fence here last year, but this year we would love to finish out the chicken coop along with getting some chickens. We’re going to start putting grass and hopefully in the future do some landscaping to make it feel like a finished backyard.
