Things to do in Las Vegas in one Weekend
Las Vegas is one of the 25th-most popular cities in the United States, and no wonder, there are so many things to do and places to visit. We planned this trip months ahead and we chose this place because neither my husband nor I haven’t been there. And since we got married in the middle of COVID we wanted to celebrate our late honeymoon in a cool place full of things to do. We made it a long weekend trip and next I will show you all the things we did and some helpful tips that saved us some time when it came down to activities.
We arrived on Thanksgiving (my mistake thinking it wasn’t going to be busy). That afternoon we headed immediately to the hotel. We booked the Paris hotel because we wanted it to be special and romantic and we loved it, a great place for couples. We grabbed some maps and flyers in the airport and the hotel. I definitely recommend checking your hotel and nearby places and see what they offer. Then you can plan some fun during your stay, although I planned everything in advance and I already knew almost everything I wanted to see.
You can always visit pages like vistitlasvegas.com, their gov site, or vegas.com to look up for events, also book everything in advance so you can save time and money and pick up a Go City Las Vegas Pass to save even more.
Where to eat and have drinks
DIRT DOG
You can’t go wrong with this place, by far the best street food I’ve tried in the US. You have to go at least one time while you are there.
BEER PARK
We did try to go to a buffet for Thanksgiving but the line was insanely long and all the places around were super busy so we skipped it and had dinner here. It was fast, great drinks and super close to our hotel.
BREAKFAST AT EGGSLUT
It’s located insideThe Cosmopolitan. All sandwiches are fresh daily. They are delicious but beware it’s a super busy place. We went there several times and the lines were so long that we had to come back the next day, so I recommend getting there early.
DRINKS AT FAT TUESDAY
It’s so convenient because they are everywhere! and the prices are not bad with the sizes that they have. When you are walking in the street you will see everyone with long frozen drinks while you’re walking and sightseeing.
BREAKFAST AT MON AMI GABI
Mon Ami Gabi is a super cute spot to have brunch and the location is super convenient. Really busy and long lines too, so next time I would definitely make a reservation.
ALEXXA’S
We had brunch here and it was delicious, really good prices and perfect to have dinner with friends.
FAVORITE BISTRO
Near the LINQ there is a small cute area full of restaurants, shops and things to do. We went there for brunch and it was one of the best restaurants we visited. It’s extremely close to all the other hotels and we just walked there from the Paris hotel.
TACOS EL PASTOR
Great place to visit anytime of the day, we weren’t always in the mood for sitting down and waiting in a restaurant so this kind of place was great to make a quick stop and keep sightseeing.
EAT in Downtown Las Vegas.
Just a casual cute cafe with a lot of options Click here for their menu!
Park on Fremont
Great place and exotic atmosphere, they have a beautiful garden and a lot of funky decorations.
Things to do
STROLL THE STRIP
Head to the strip, there you’ll find all the big hotels like The Bellagio, Cosmopolitan, Venetian (one of my favorites) – and enjoy the beautiful views and the tons of activities.
RIDE THE HIGH ROLLER
The High Roller takes you 500+ feet in the air with incredible views of all of Las Vegas (I recommend visiting at night). You can see ALL the hotels and attractions. It’s such a great experience to see the entire Strip, it was one of our favorites things to do because we’re not into gambling that much.
RIDE THE BIG APPLE ROLLER COASTER
In the New York-New York hotel you can find The Big Apple Coaster, is the most iconic and fastest roller coaster on the Strip . If you’re not afraid of heights like me, you can’t miss this experience.
VISIT FREMONT STREET
Take a guided tour of Fremont St from an experienced local that can show and tell you about the history of Las Vegas, it’s a great part of town and really different from the strip. Also like a lot of things and activities around here it is definitely better at night.
EXPLORE SPRINGS PRESERVE
The Springs Preserve offers a variety of attractions focused on the history and development of the Las Vegas Valley. There are exhibits on native landscaping, water conservation, efficient technologies, and information on the infrastructure.
VISIT A MUSEUM
If you have enough time, I would definitely visit The mob museum and The neon museum, they are really cool places and the tickets vary from $25 to $45 USD.
FORUM SHOPS AT CAESARS PALACE
Besides a lot of beautiful and very expensive shops with luxury brands, there is the replica of the famous Trevi Fountain in Rome. This area has very high traffic, so if you want to get a good picture I would recommend going early, this is one of the perfect activities during the day.
ROMANTIC DINNER
There is a beautiful restaurant that we visited (Eiffel Tower Restaurant) inside the Paris hotel. It was totally worth it because it was a special occasion and the view was 10/10. But it is always busy so I made a reservation weeks before.
THE VENETIAN & THE PALAZZO
Of all the hotels and places we went to, these two were the most beautiful ones, perfect for all ages. It was like being transported to Venice, you can float down the grand canal, and on top of that it has amazing shops and restaurants.
If you have more time you should visit The Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam, these tours offer VIP experiences with meals included.
Where to Shop
M&M’S Las Vegas
Coca-Cola-Store
EATALY
This is an intense and amazing marketplace where you can eat, shop and learn. It offers amazing Italian products, live cooking demonstrations and excellent restaurants. It’s located inside PARK MGM
OUR TRIP

We had breakfast at Eggslut and then we visited Park MGM → Aria → Bellagio (fountain and conservatory and botanical garden). We had lunch in Beer park and later enjoyed the view at The HIGH ROLLER (we bought tickets in advance and saved us so much time, the line was really long). To end the night we had dinner with an amazing view at the Eiffel Tower Restaurant at Paris Hotel. Later on we visited some of the casinos.
SATURDAY
We start in LAS VEGAS SIGN, then we walk to the Mandalay Bay, here we visited the AQUARIUM → Luxor → Excalibur→New york hotel which is hardly a 3 minute walk from Excalibur, and then walk around 8 minutes to the the Aerosmith concert at DOLBY LIVE. We also visited Alexxa’s that day.

We had breakfast in La creperie at Paris Hotel, then we walk a lot starting for the FORUM SHOPS (CAESARS PALACE), we visited TREVI FOUNTAIN, see hotels like The Mirage and head down to The venetian which is next to it. Around 6pm we went to Treasure Island because we got tickets for Cirque Du Soleil, after that FREEMONT STREET to end the night.
TIPS
For when you arrive from the airport, there are shuttle buses with very fair rates and you can book your ride in advance. Make reservations for restaurants or events like the High Roller ,they save us a lot of time making lines. Also walk and use the connections the hotels have, the trams are super helpful, if we needed to go far like Fremont St we just took an uber.
The three free trams are:
- Park MGM → Aria → Bellagio
- Mandalay Bay → Luxor → Excalibur
- Mirage → Treasure Island
You can also use the monorail, it takes you to the main hotels on the Las Vegas Strip and is fairly inexpensive. You can find ticket options here. If you are downtown, there is a FREE Shuttle bus that takes you to the Arts District, Mob Museum and Fremont Street. Click here for more info. No matter what you can’t go wrong visiting this place, full of fun activities and beautiful places. Let me know which one is your favorite!
