Sofia’s Nursery Mood Board

In 2024 we got the best news ever, we found out we were going to be parents, and the truth was, that we were planning this for a while so it was not a total shock. As soon as we knew this, I started planing my dream nursery and slowly buying things each month. With this in mind, I didn’t want to reach the nesting phase without having everything ready. The good news were that I had all the baby stuff that I needed like a crib, muslim cloths, tons of baby clothes and toys, but fast forward I was more than six months and we didn’t have her room ready.

Initially when we got this house, our home was supposed to be an AirB&B, so this room was named the “kids room”. It had two set of bunk beds and some toys and decorations but it was not exactly what I was envisioning for my little girl. I was envisioning a really fun room, with some color and even some cool wallpaper, but with a lot going on wallpaper was not a great choice because it was a lot of work and it was more expensive too.

In fact, I didn’t want a full pink room, it was going to be feminine but not overpowering so I was between October Mist or Evergreen Fog. We love Ikea and I knew I wanted this dresser and this crib, I ended up going with the wood one instead of this white one, I also got a red moose that I had been wanting for years, so if I ever had a baby, she was going to have that moose.

Without doubt, I was in need of a really comfy rocking chair (in a neutral color like beige or gray), a statement piece for the lamp and at least some natural material like wicker. The only thing we agreed on from the start is that we didn’t want a lot of toys, but rather a lot of books, some shelves, or even a beautiful library like this one, that was definitely out of my budget, however I ended up finding a cute dupe on Facebook Marketplace.

To sum up, beyond a beautiful space, I wanted it to be extremely functional too, because my house is not really big and I don’t have a playroom for a lot of toys. Lastly, I choose one of my favorite rugs fro the CLJ Collection to ground the whole space, add warmth and a lot of comfort for endless hours of play. To add a feminine touch, I got some pale pink velvet curtains and some gold details like the lamp and the tiebacks.

Above all, I finished the room before my baby was born in January 2025 and I started writing this post with her being almost nine months, and I’m finally putting everything together. Nevertheless, I really wanted to show you all the progress we made and how beautiful her room turned out, so stay tuned for the final result.
